Please visit my website frequently: units of study, quizzes, projects and garden updates will be posted.
For those of you new to the school and the Culinary Arts program, be advised that we now have an organic vegetable and herb garden on campus. Your student will be working in the garden from time to time and the lessons involving the science of gardening will be taught. Please remind your child to keep a pair of old sneakers, long pants (preferably denim) and a sweatshirt in their lockers as we will be going outside when it is cold.
Video: how to plant and grow garlicFall is in the air and we are about to start planning and planting the cold weather crops for the garden. We are entering into the fifth year of the garden and it is better than ever. Upcoming projects include amending the soil in the raised beds, cleaning and mulching the perimeter, and planting the vegetables. The most exciting news is that Mendham High School now has a geodesic dome, solar powered greenhouse! Funds for the dome were awarded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment act, and we are in the third year of use. The Culinary Arts department works closely with the BSP program in a collaborative effort to teach students of all interests and abilities. Parent volunteers are always welcome as are donations of any kind.
